Guiding you through guardianship

In situations where an individual lacks the capacity to make legally binding decisions, whether that person is under the age of 18 or is an adult, a guardianship will allow a competent representative to make decisions for that person. Specific situations where a guardianship might be appropriate include:

• a disabled minor who has reached the age of majority
• a minor who has inherited property or money upon the death of a parent
• a minor who has received a settlement or jury award in a personal injury case
• an adult who has suffered brain injury
• an adult who has Alzheimer's, schizophenia or any other mental illness that affects the ability to make rational decisions

At Purcell & Saucedo, PLLC, we handle all matters related to guardianship, from the first application and court hearings to the reinstatement of rights when a guardianship is no longer necessary or appropriate. We will also assist you with the administration of the guardianship, including the preparation of the inventory of assets and applications to sell property of the guardianship.

We can help you seek a guardianship of a person or an estate, though it is common that the same guardian have responsibility for both. If you are named guardian of the estate, we will help you complete any requirements to manage the property of the estate.
